The refreshed 2014 Buick LaCrosse will be priced starting at $34,060, with shipping, or $610 higher than the outgoing 2013 model, General Motors said today.
The sedan includes more safety and technology features, a new interior design and a moderate exterior makeover, including a revised front fascia with a revised grille and new wing-shaped LED headlights.
New features on the inside include a floor console with extra storage and revamped instrument panel. The seats, door panels and many of the interior controls also are new, GM said.
Standard equipment in the 2014 LaCrosse includes an eight-inch reconfigurable color cluster display with the next generation of Buick's IntelliLink system, featuring swipe-and-drag controls like a tablet, and seven control buttons instead of 17.
Engine choices remain the same: a 304-hp 3.61-liter V-6 engine or a 2.4-liter four-cylinder engine with eAssist. Both engines are paired with a six-speed automatic transmission.
GM is counting on the enhancements to help command higher prices while reversing a recent slide in LaCrosse sales amid a decline in overall large car volumes.
U.S. sales of the LaCrosse fell 14 percent to 20,483 units through May, according to the Automotive News Data Center.
Sales of the LaCrosse fell 2 percent in 2012 to 57,076 LaCrosse sedans, but it was Buick's biggest seller.
The 2014 model was introduced in late March and will be in dealerships in late summer, a GM spokeswoman said.
An ultraluxury package featuring wood trim, synthetic suede on the headliner and vanity mirrors, and semi-aniline leather seats is priced at $2,495.
