Ferrari Testarossa



Ferrari Testarossa by right is considered one of the most exotic and magnificent sport cars of the 1980th years. Developed Pininfarina as replacement of the out-of-date Berlinetta Boxer, equipped with the 12-cylinder Testarossa engine became direct threat to much more mad Lamborghini Countach which, probably, possessed a bigger exclusivity as was issued in the extremely limited circulation. Some potential clients had extremely heavy Countach in management and, therefore, less popular. So it is not surprising that Testarossa quickly proved, as one of the most popular and desired supercars.

The car is equipped with the 4,9-liter unit which makes 390 h.p., allowing the car to exchange the first hundred in 5,2 seconds, at the maximum speed in 290 km/h. Pininfarina used the greatest possible quantity of superficial materials, during too time providing the car compliance with safety requirements in the various countries. No wonder that the car appeared in late seasons of series "Police of Miami: Department of customs". After all not to include one of the most magnificent and fast cars of decade in the series which have become an indicative example of a superfluous American glamour of those years, would be blasphemy. Certainly, it is difficult to understand, why two policemen should go by an evident sport car during carrying out secret operations, but it was Ferrari, so to us all the same. And the leaders of Ferrari, no doubt rubbing their hands, after such a successful product placement  provided with it a set of orders.

In 1991 of Testarossa it was let out under brand 512TR. The engine was processed, the capacity increased to 430 horses that allowed to improve acceleration in all range of turns. The transmission and engine arrangement that helped to improve controllability was besides changed. Wheels were processed that allowed to reduce their weight and to optimize an air stream to brakes.

Improvements also concerned a suspension bracket and steering system, having made the car more sympathetic. Now it became capable will reach speeds of 100 km/h in 4,8 seconds, and the maximum speed reached a point of 309 km/h. In many respects 512TR is absolutely other car, in comparison from early Testarossa. Later the limited model 512М, or "Modificatta" which could brag of a little changed design of forward and back parts of a body and slightly increased (to 440 hp) capacity was let out.


To the middle the 1990th release of Testarossa came to an end, excellent F50, model of initial level 355 came to change, and also 575 and 550. Nevertheless, Testarossa made the work, having snipped off Ferrari a big piece of the market in a segment of top sport cars. Testarossa remains to one of the most significant supercars of the 1980th and the beginning of the 1990th years, and is still highly appreciated by collectors and fans of a brand.
