Ferrari F12 Berlinetta

The Italian Ferrari F12 Berlinetta supercar marks emergence of new generation of 12-cylinder cars of this brand. The car provides unprecedented productivity thanks to the innovative engine and unsurpassed ease of management in combination with the advanced architecture of a body and really exclusive aerodynamic characteristics.

From the moment of the company basis in 1947 the presentation of each new 12-cylinder "horse" released by masters from Maranello, turned into the real magic show. The first model I was Ferrari 125 S. From the point of view of adherents of conservative approach the 12-cylinder engine is ideal for supercars.

The sports spider of 375 America of 1953 is finished just like a single sport car of F1 whereas model 259 GTO was an ideal combination of the first-class design and productivity. This list would be incomplete without the car of the class Gran Turismo of 1969 365 GTB which is better known under the informal name Daytona which thanks to perfectly balanced design became a source of unusual feelings from driving. All these engines and cars are now dream of collectors worldwide, and each of them after emergence on sale symbolized qualitatively new stage of development of the class.

And the output of the next car with a twelve cylinder engine marks the beginning of a new era: F12berlinetta not just a modern 12-cylinder models in the front mid-engine layout, it is also the first car to an entirely new generation of this class.

For engineers and technical specialists of the company set a complex challenge to create the front mid-engine ar with unique dynamic characteristics which would provide to the driver the same pleasure from driving and controllability, as well as at low speeds. She assumed improvement of design of 599 GTB Fiorano, the recognized most beautiful Ferrari model. As a result there was a sports car with the unique new average 12-cylinder engine to 740 horsepowers and a torque in 690 Nm
.
The engine and seat of the driver in model "are put" below, than at a prototype, the wheel base is reduced, and the new option of an arrangement of a suspension bracket and a transmission helped to make back part of a body more compact. The model also possesses ideal indicators of distribution of weight, 54 which % fall on the back bridge, and lower center of the masses displaced to back part of a body.

The frame running gear and F12berlinetta body also have absolutely new design in which are used 12 different aluminum alloys. Some of them are applied for the first time in the automobile industry. And set of revolutionary technologies of assembly and installation. All this helped to reduce car lump to 1 525 kg, and also most to increase its dynamic efficiency and rigidity of a design for 20%. Special history with aerodynamics. Here, in one of the first innovations to note Aeromost - channel running along the car's hood through the holes to the sides and back, which increases downforce and the active cooling of brake system - a system of air intake duct in the braking system, which are opened only in case of increase in the operating temperature of the brakes .

Due to this F12berlinetta can be called the most dynamically efficient car Ferrari (the index doubled in comparison with the 599 GTB Fiorano) with the coefficient of aerodynamic resistance in 0,299 and the presser force in 123 kg at a speed of 200 km/h.
V12 with direct injection, of 6 262 cubic cm and pressure of 200 bars with which the F12berlinetta model is equipped, provides unprecedented dynamic characteristics for the 12-cylinder engine without pressurization. The maximum output capacity makes 740 hp at 8 250 rpm, the specific output capacity of this car reaches record value in 118 pm/l. Speed of reaction and instant set of speed are provided with the maximum torque in 690 Nm, 80 which % you reach at 2 500 rpm, and constant increase in power to limit value in 8 700 rpm in process of increase in a torque. As well as all engines of the class F1, V12 possesses low level of inertia and therefore the torque raises very quickly.
The product of continuous cooperation Ferrari and Pininfarina style center, design of F12berlinetta is based on ideally balanced proportions of the car. It possesses original innovative style with features of execution traditional for 12-cylinder Ferraris. Dressed in smooth, but aggressive lines of a body, this car are set also by the royal standard of internal space and comfort, despite its compact external dimensions.

Appeal of the process of driving even more increases thanks to a rich sound of a full exhaust, usual for all V12 Ferrari engines without pressurization. Degree of productivity of F12berlinetta gives a fine idea of magnificent efficiency of the engine, the consumption level of fuel and which emissions is 30% lower now thanks to system stop start, to the "clever" generator and system of multispark ignition. These and many other technical solutions allowed to reduce degree of internal friction and to make F12berlinetta the best in the class thanks to an optimum ratio of power and level of emissions.
The engine is also equipped with system stop start and the "clever" generator which charges the accumulator, only if there is no need for the electric power. The special attention was paid to decrease in level of internal friction, counter-pressure at the exit of gases and pressure on an entrance.

Seven-speed transmission of F1 with double coupling as much as possible increases productivity and comfort of driving. The used technology is based on independent management of even and odd transfers which are set previously by means of two different entrance shaft. The torque is transferred at once to wheels. In F12berlinetta the truncated transfer numbers are applied, and the 7th transfer represents direct transfer number, instead of raising transfer that provides use of high potential of power of the car on any transfer. Besides, the transmission is equipped with built-in system of electronic differential of E-Diff3 which allowed to reduce car lump.
