The hybrid of ELR will be based on Chevy Volt

In August of last year of Cadillac confirmed start of a new electromobile on the basis of the Chevrolet Volt technologies. 2014 Cadillacs ELR, the serial version of the Converj concept car which, most likely, debuts next year become this model. Unique official details: it will be a magnificent compartment with electric, the 4-cylinder engine and T-shaped battery. Still the description of the car similar 2-door Chevy Volt, but we tried to find some key differences.

Being Cadillac, ELR, naturally, possesses much more magnificent interior, and still a large number of gadgets. While the mass of the car will be slightly higher, than at Volt, higher price list (the predicted initial price will make about $50 000) will mean that engineers of Cadillac will use more expensive easy materials to solve a problem of excess weight. The equipment which on hearings will be established on ELR, includes the latest sound-proof materials, a radar and chambers of system of monitoring. Despite all additional gadgets, the equipped mass of ELR should be on only 45 kg more than at 1725-kilogram Volt.

It is possible to assume that Cadillac will use more powerful engine, than the 1,4-liter Volt unit. The new four-cylinder 1,8-liter engine the developed Opel becomes the most probable option. It should provide faster charge of the ELR accumulator, and big productivity. The accumulator too should be more powerful, than the Volt device. The capacity, most likely, will increase to 17,0 kW in comparison with 16,5 kW in 2013 of Chevy Volt.

Regardless of the fact that Cadillac prepares for us from 2014 ELR, in the near future we learn more details as prototypes already pass test about GM headquarters in Detroit.
