S60 Polestar: The fastest Volvo

To Volvo hinted at a new range of high-efficiency models developed in partnership with Polestar some years. Hearings began to find the soil when in 2010 debuted C30 Polestar concept car. This model was collected to show Volvo C30 potential, and also to strengthen connection of the car with his racing colleague which at that time stood on Polestar arms in different types of competitions. Since then communication between Volvo and Polestar only became stronger.

Now both companies presented a new concept on the basis of S60 sedan. And the car is so good that Lexus IS-F and Mercedes-Benz C63 AMG is quite capable to compete to BMW M3. Presented in the Gothenburg, at the Swedish competitions TTA, in which Polestar uses the racing car based on Volvo S60, this concept can quite go to a mass production.

Under a cowl of Polestar S60s the turbirovanny 6-cylinder engine of standard S60 is located, but the target capacity of the 3,0-liter unit is dispersed to 508 h.p. and 574 Nanometers of a torque. To cope with additional capacity, it was necessary for engineers of Polestar to change heads of the block of cylinders, the combustion chamber, an inlet collector, and also to establish the individual rods, a new turbokompressor of Garret and a 3,5-inch exhaust system from stainless steel.

In a combination to engine updatings, transmission and a running gear also passed modernization. The standard transmission was replaced with sports six-step mechanics. The system of a full drive of Haldex passed thin settings. The case became wider, having increased by 20 mm in front and 40 mm behind, besides, the car was underestimated by 30 mm. Öhlins suspension bracket, the strengthened stabilizers of cross-section stability and 19-inch light-alloy wheels do the car suitable as for participation in competitions with similar, and for daily trips. By Polestar estimates, unique S60 will take from a place one hundred approximately in 3,9 seconds. The maximum speed of the car - 300 km/h.
