Updated Chevrolet Camaro submitted together with the track version


Within a motor show in New York the world premiere of updated Chevrolet Camaro and its revived track Z/28 version took place. 
 The well-known sport car received the little changes of the design which first of all have mentioned forward part of model.  Narrower front grille with the chromeplated finishing, and also the changed form of a bumper and ventilating openings on a cowl became the main innovation.  Behind the main attention is drawn by integral LED lamps instead of former steam rooms.  On a trunk lid there was a repeater of a stoplight which on some modifications disappears under a back spoiler. 

Modification Camaro Z/28, equipped with a 7-liter V8 engine with 507 hp (637 Nm) and a six-speed "manual", is approved for use on public roads with tuning sports car to drive around the track. In the line of Camaro  Z/28 nestled between 426-horsepower sports car base and 580-strong version of the ZL1. 

 "We decided to construct the fastest racing Camaro which could be used and on usual roads" — the chief engineer of Chevrolet Camaro El Oppenkhayzer declared.  –  "Whereas Camaro ZL1 offers exclusive power on the street, a track and on drags distances, Z/28 to the majority of drivers will seem to the too track.  However for fans of races it will be one of the cars most adapted for a track ever offered by car makers". 

Novelty was easy revving engine with dry sump LS7, carbon-ceramic brakes Brembo, integrated cooler, an aerodynamic body kit that increases downforce and greatly reduced curb weight. In particular, to save weight front seats have manual adjustment, the rear seats are for 4 pounds lighter, and 19-inch wheels and special tires can save esche19 kilograms compared to ZL1 Camaro SS and the standard 20-inch wheels.

For the sake of reducing the mass of track Camaro also had to give up the absorber noise in the cabin, rugs and conditioner. Rear glass was thinner at 0.3 millimeters (3.2 mm). As a result, an model was 45 pounds lighter Camaro SS with an atmospheric engine and 136 pounds lighter Camaro ZL1, equipped with a motor with a mechanical supercharger.

Other changes include Recaro chairs with suede inserts from microfiber, self-locking differential, racing tires Pirelli PZero Trofeo R of dimension 305/30ZR19 and more rigid details of a suspension bracket for improvement of its reaction in turns. 

In GM declare that during testing of Camaro Z/28 proved to be three seconds quicker on a circle, than Camaro ZL1.
